We’re excited to announce that Atlas Copco is the first compressor manufacturer to receive ISO 22000 certification by Lloyds Register for our production facility in Antwerp, Belgium. This facility manufactures state-of-the-art oil-free air compressors, blowers and air treatment products.
Compressed Air and Food Safety
In food manufacturing applications, compressed air is used in various processes including ingredient mixing, pneumatic conveyance and packaging, among others. Because the air touches the final product or takes an active role in many applications, the air must be clean and free of any potential contaminants.
According to ISO.org,
The consequences of unsafe food can be serious and ISO’s food safety management standards help organizations identify and control food safety hazards. As many of today’s food products repeatedly cross national boundaries, International Standards are needed to ensure the safety of the global food supply chain.
Because ISO standards use audits with clear requirements, food manufacturers can rely on the standards to choose compliant compressed air manufacturers to supply their facilities with the highest quality compressed air. In order to comply with the ISO 22000 certification, we have implemented the same Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and safety procedures used by top food companies in the design and production of our compressors, blowers and dryers.
